MoMA | Long Island City | New York

Client: Museum of Modern Art
Location: MoMA, Long Island, New York
Architect: Andrew Berman Architect
Product: Flushglaze Fixed Skylight
Completed: 2011

Andrew Berman Architect used Glazing Vision’s skylights in their design of the MoMA PS1 Entrance Building. The Flushgaze Fixed Skylight allows daylight to penetrate the concrete interior from the flat roof.

Glazing Vision was chosen because we specialize in manufacturing skylights and we offer custom products tailored specifically for a client’s project.

The MoMA PS1 Entrance Building is located on Jackson Avenue. This modern entry space was designed to feature artwork and serve as a checkpoint. Museum visitors pass through the space then into the main courtyard on their way to the galleries.

Besides bringing in natural light, it was essential to install high quality skylights that would not leak. We installed three custom wall abutted Flushglaze Fixed skylights (measuring 6096mm x 838mm, fitted in two sections) that were fitted seamlessly against the each wall. The way we design our skylights ensures a flush fit, regardless of the shape of the opening.

With international offices in England and Holland, Glazing Vision has fitted skylights for every type of building, including hospitals, theaters, libraries, and private residences. We were able to offer our expertise to the MoMA PS1 project, and look forward to working with both MoMA and Andrew Berman Architect in the future.
