We’ve been reaching out to our clients on interesting projects we’ve completed in the past. This week, we caught up with Jeff King & Company on the San Francisco ultimate roof deck.

This amazing roof terrace features our Flushglaze® Walkable Skylight which allows floods of natural light to beam into the rooms below, creating light, modern spaces throughout the home. Our 100% seamless fit means that the walk on skylight is completely flush with the deck and blends in with clean lines in the ceiling beneath. All of our skylights are durability tested, but the Flushglaze® Walkable Skylight is specially glazed for regular foot traffic to ensure total safety and a completely watertight fit.

The walkable skylights can be finished with sandblasted or dot matrix patterns to help with anti slip.  As the walkable skylights are glass, they will scratch over time and it is worth considering how you want the skylight to be finished.

The other consideration when thinking of walkable glass is privacy, do you want to look through it and see the sky or people walking on the glass or would you prefer some privacy.  This can be achieved by choosing a colored laminated inner, the most common is a white inter layer, however we have seen clients choose other variations including a ruby red laminated inner.

We can cater for various different load requirements (commercial glass loadings differ from domestic loadings), even manufacturing ‘drive over’ glass for clients on past projects.

Jon Shooter “I have been involved in lots of walkable skylight projects, we were asked by one client to provide a glass walkable skylight that he could drive his lawn mower over as it was situated on a green roof.  Another client has a collection of cars that he wanted to showcase when he entertained guests at his home and wanted to present it on a glass floor, so we have to find a glass specification that could take the weight of the car and be driven on”

It’s great to see Glazing Vision skylights helping to transform urban living to bring these creative outdoor living spaces to life. We hope you enjoy looking through the finished project photos as much as we do!
